Meet Ella
associate doula
My name is Ella Kirkland, and I have been drawn to birth ever since I was young.
My love for birth began on the farm where I grew up. On calm, dark nights up when my mom would wake me to watch one of our animals give us a new baby. my love only grew from there. Sitting in the hospital waiting room, driving to a friend’s induction, waiting with a lovely couple for their midwife to arrive…The more I experienced life changing moments like these, the more my love for and desire to work near birth grew.
Now, this love has led me to becoming a doula so I can support and encourage women as they enter in this beautiful thing we call motherhood.
As a doula, I strive to provide compassion and education throughout your pregnancy, birth, and postpartum stages. I will remain by your side through it all!
I began my initial doula education through DONA International and am now continuing that education with the Imagine Birth team.
During pregnancy, I offer insight, resources, and support, so you can make more informed decisions for your birth preference plan. In labor, I strive to be a calm presence, supporting you emotionally and physically during this transforming experience. Whether you want space, or hands-on support, I offer what will help you best, cheering you on the whole way. While postpartum, my goal is to provide the tools you need to help you enjoy and adjust to this new phase of life.
Outside of birth work, you can probably find me reading a fantasy novel or trying out a new cookie recipe to share with my roommates. I also really enjoy painting with watercolor, hanging out with my church family, and spending time outside on a sunny day.
